I first met Dave at Aberdeen University some 56 years ago. We remained good friends throughout that period and although weeks and months could pass without any contact, we just picked up where we had left off. His sense of humour was legendary and he had a wonderful way of expressing his views on life many of which were anti establishment. I will miss our telephone conversations which were punctuated with much mirth and laughter. Gone but certainly not forgotten.

David was a great pal, in every way, for a very long time. We miss him.
