Brian Chalmers Tribute Fund

Brian John Chalmers ('The Prof') died on 16th November 2013 after a short but difficult battle with a rare cancer called metastatic paraganglioma. Nobody who knew Brian would be surprised to know that he faced his illness with great courage and extraordinary stoicism. Following his death, his family and friends agreed that they would like to raise some money in memory of Brian that might lead to better treatments for patients with cancer.
The family decided to establish the Brian Chalmers Tribute Fund, to raise funds for the ground-breaking research and wonderful patient care funded by Beatson Cancer Charity. The fund also gives family and friends an opportunity to share their memories of Brian, such as his enjoyment of hill walking, travelling and jazz, the pride he took in his work, his generous spirit and the immense happiness it gave him to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
Brian's son Anthony is a cancer researcher based in Glasgow and was very involved in establishing Beatson Cancer Charity, so the family are delighted to have this opportunity to raise funds to support this important work.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with Anthony if you would like any more information about the charity and the ground-breaking research it funds.
Anthony and his sister Joanne will also be raising money for the Charity in Brian’s name by taking part in Challenge Arrochar – Beatson Cancer Charity’s very own 3 peaks challenge.

I remember how good he was at his job, his ability to think through and solve problems. Brian was a Born Leader.

Brian was tall and handsome, the most loving man. Loyal, strong and generous. He was reliable and supportive and of course intelligent. He was very funny and I loved his face when he smiled and was happy.
But the things I will remember most are the fact that you could rely on him no matter what and how safe and secure he made me feel.

Brian loved his family most, he loved spending time with them and he loved wathcing sport with them. He was very proud of all his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed a glass of red wine with family and evenings with friends.
