Baba Jani’s Fund
Last year my amazing Mum Janis was given the devastating news that she had a Neuroendocrine Tumour in her lower Bowel. Like everything else in life she decided to fight back and began treatment straightaway and so her journey began with 2 rounds of Chemo and a further 25 rounds of Chemo/Radio combination at The Beatson. When you start your journey you’re told this may happen that may happen, but I can honestly say aside from Mum losing her hair she came through the whole thing amazingly. Which gave us all hope that everything had been successful, we spoke with her oncologist 3 months after and he advised us that the tumour had shrunk and that he would monitor it going forward as removal wasn’t an option for Mum. So you think great lets look at getting life back on track as everything stops while someone you love goes through the treatment process, so we headed off on a much needed family holiday. Not long after we came home Mum started to experience some side effects which ended up with a visit to hospital and sadly an obstruction lead to her organs starting to fail but the one thing that remains with us is the care and help she was given by The Beatson. So with that in mind we’d like to keep Mum’s memory alive and give The Beatson something back in her name as she appreciated every aspect of the help they gave her during her time there.
